Does Bruce read my blog? Nah... :-)
From Capitals Insider, Nov. 6, 2008:
With the Caps struggling to find their groove offensively in recent games, Coach Bruce Boudreau has shuffled his lines in an effort to get them jumpstarted. The biggest change involved putting Alex Ovechkin, Sergei Fedorov and Alexander Semin together (the same trio had success together in the world championships, at even strength and on the power play.)
Here are the lines:
Forwards
Ovechkin-Fedorov-Semin
Laich-Backstrom-Kozlov
Fleischmann-Nylander-Clark
Brashear-Gordon-Bradley
Scratches--Steckel and Fehr
The 'D' pairings are unchanged, as far as I could tell. And Johnson will be starting in net.
Ovechkin, who has scored in only one game this season, said he's hoping the all-Russian line can rediscover some of the magic they had together at worlds.
"We need to find something that works," Ovechkin said. "We understand each other. We have a great center, a great right wing, so I just need to work hard and play well."
Fedorov added: "We understand each other better, feel the game together better. Coming from the same country, same background, and playing together in the world championships together, you have to think we'll feel better and play better."
Fedorov also knows that he'll have to be the defensive conscience of the line.
"I have to be the responsible one," Fedorov said. "I'll lay back and see what happens."
I was preaching for this for a long time and thanks gawd, Bruce Boudreau finally heard me...
