A must see video interview with Ovechkin
A must see video interview with Ovechkin after the morning skate
Tarik already typed it in, but there are more details, so don't miss it.
About grandpa's illness affecting his performance:
Of course, when someone in your family feels no good, you don't feel [good] about the game...
About grandpa's raising him:
Yeah. When my mom was coaching the women's basketball team. I live all the time with him and he lived with me when I was growing up, so he's very close to me.
How do you feel about seeing your grandpa?
I feel good and I feel bad. I feel good I saw my grandpa, but I feel bad I didn't play and couldn't help my teammates win the game.
Is it true that he bought you the first stick?
No, that's for newspapers.... Can you imagine, I go home and my friends'd call me and say, "I'm so sorry your grandfather died."
Where did that come from?
I don't know. Some idiot.
Ovechkin said he skated a couple of times with Moscow Dynamo's kids. They were like 13 year olds and they were asking him what he was doing there. He also avoided becoming jetlagged by living "on American time," saying during the night he didn't sleep, at the day time he slept.
He said he really appreciated what Capitals did for him.
Did you hear what Semin said about Crosby?
...maybe translator was not good, but... what can I say... :-)
He was also asked about the game where the smoke bomb flare went on.
Smoke was all over the place. It was a good game, good teams, Kazan and Dynamo were playing.
It happened in Philly too.
I know.
Alright, I am an official idiot, but at least Ovechkin mentioned me. :-) And from the questions asked I can tell that people who were asking Alex were reading my blog. Thanks! As I promised, no LIFE.RU translations here anymore.
Ted's take, Nov. 3, 2008:
Alex asked for respect of his privacy and that they will communicate to our fan base in an official capacity if there is any news on this matter.
We'll do.
