Ovechkin's post game video
Ovechkin's post game video interview
By Corey Masisak, Nov. 7, 2008 "Semin's two goals propel Capitals":
Fedorov had a pair of great chances to score in the first period, but Ward made a great save on one, and the 38-year-old Russian hit the right post on the other attempt. Early in the second, Fedorov had another great opportunity and didn't miss.
Ovechkin took an outlet pass from Jeff Schultz along the left boards at the blue line and then sent the puck into an open area in the middle of the offensive zone. Fedorov won the race to the puck and snapped a shot into the top left corner of the net for his fourth of the season at 3:05.
It was the eighth straight game without a goal for Ovechkin - the longest stretch of his career - and Nicklas Backstrom continues to be without a point at even strength. Still, their play was an encouraging sign for the Caps.
Ovechkin set up all three goals, and Boudreau said Backstrom had his best game of the season.
"I think [the slump] is all about [the media]," Ovechkin said. "[The media] say I play no well. I think I play the same way I have. I think I still have chances, and I create some moments."
Obviously Quebec line did really well. They did have that magic that propelled team Russia to the World Cup winners. Hopefully Fedorov's injury is not significant. Can you imagine, this guy was centering Mogilny and Bure, and now it's Ovechkin and Semin. This line is as scary as with his first buddies Alex and Pavel. I hope BB will play them more.
Backstrom and Kozlov looked very good too, maybe they wanted to prove something, both were dropped from the first line.
