Stu Hackel on Quebec line and lost and found Alex
By STU HACKEL, NYT Slap Shot, Nov. 7, 2008:
And Alex Ovechkin, didn’t look like Alex Ovechkin — at least not to Wayne Scanlon of the Ottawa Citizen when the Caps visited Ottawa on Tuesday — is back to being Alexander Ovechkin again.
All it took was Capitals Coach Bruce Boudreau putting OV on a line with Sergei Fedorov, the former Best Player on Earth and Mr. Anna Kournikova, and president-elect of the Sidney Crosby Fan Club Alexander Semin against the Hurricanes last night.
With OV setting up all three goals — Fedorov scored a game-tying marker in the second period and Semin tallied twice in the final 2:43, including the winner with 11 seconds remaining — as the Capitals stunned the ‘Canes in D.C., 3-2.
This led Tariq El-Bashir in the Washington Post to write, “The only question now is what took so long.”
Perhaps Coach Bruuuuce didn’t recognize OV since he wasn’t himself.
He once was lost, but now he’s found.
LOL. Stu is at his best!
