Ovechkin's interview to SportBox.ru (video update)

 


The Washington Capitalas forward Alexander Ovechkin gave an interview after the party given in his honour in one of the Moscow night clubs.

Your friends, who gathered here to congratulate you, packed the night club completely.
Not all of them are my friends, many are just acquaintances. But it is gratifying that so many people gathered here to support and congratulate me. And I think I deserved it with my sweat and blood.

Viktor Kozlov and Sergei Fedorov returned to Russia. When can we expect you?
Not too soon. Maybe during the next lockout, if there will be one.

And how did you react to their departure?
Negatively. We have become very close friends, so it was a little upsetting. However it is their choice and I have no right to judge them.

Evgeni Malkin in an interview said that he was going to seriously improve his English because, in his view, his communication with the journalists was not enough to get him the Hart Trophy. How would you look at it?
If someone believes that Hart Trophy is given only for communicating with the journalists, they can even start learning Chinese if they think it would help.

The Forbes magazine recently published a top 50 richest and most famous athletes in Russia. You are there 2nd after Maria Sharapova. What do you think about it?
I don't count other people's money.

Do you think you need a dream team to win the Olympics?
First of all you need to build it from a team oriented people who would fight for each other, as well as for the flag of the country.

Have you already discussed the Olympics with other players?
No, it's not our business. Let the Coaches discuss the roster.
