Ovechkin: The team gives me a chance to be who I am.

REPORTER: John Grigg | PRODUCER: Ted Cooper
Ken Campbell, the senior writer for THN, also known for his Campbellnomics, interviews Ovechkin, Dec. 16, 2009:
Ovechkin had a photo shoot with the New York Times in the afternoon and took in the Washington Wizards game that night and allowed us to tag along.
We also had a chance to catch up with Ovechkin and talk to him about a variety of subjects.
Thanks goes to the Capitals hard-working senior director of media relations, Nate Ewell, who helped make it happen.
Look for the issue on newsstands Dec. 21.
Part 1
Campbell: This all thing... that Washington Capitals is... it's mostly about you, you are the driving engine here...
Ovechkin: It's not about me. They give me the chance, the team, the Coach, Ted Leonsis, they give me the chance to be who I am.

Love the ice cream cone! Keep it real, Ovie. That's one thing that draws people to you.
Love his attitude!!!! He is who is and is not ashamed!
I have sat in both the nicest seats and luxury boxes, but the most passionate fans are way up high were they can not be seen. People that sit up there work hard for their seats, wear the jerseys and are happy to even be there despite the crappy view. Nice to hear that Ovie see's us all as equals and gives us folks that sit in the 300's ("nosebleeds" at Staples Center, my hometown arena) props!
