The whole truth and nothing but truth

"The meltdown started early with captain Sidney Crosby taking a boarding penalty..."
~ESPN
By Bruce Arthur, National Post, May 12, 2010:Crosby's Penguins didn't defeat Ovechkin's Capitals in Game 7 last year because Ovechkin was stopped on a breakaway early on; they did not even win because Crosby scored a superlative reaction goal -- a rebound off the end boards that Crosby instantly deflected from skate to stick to net -- to open the scoring.

No, Pittsburgh won that series because the goaltender Washington threw out there, in his 18th career NHL game, turned back into a pumpkin, all ready to be carved.

Pittsburgh went on to win the Cup, Crosby's first. But it was Evgeni Malkin who won the Conn Smythe. Malkin, when fully engaged and on his game, is capable of heights that Crosby and Ovechkin simply cannot match, much less Alexander Semin and Mike Green. Crosby was great; Malkin was better.

Then, the Olympics came. Crosby scored the deciding goal, the golden goal, the goal that will be carved into this country's memory. But aside from that one glorious moment, he had become invisible in that tournament. Crosby was not named to the Olympic all-tournament team; Canadian forward Jonathan Toews was.

Again, though he scored the biggest goal of the whole damned thing - and I'm not minimizing that goal, since it resulted in a personal loss of perhaps 10% of my hearing -- Crosby was not considered the best player on his winning team. And for that matter, if you put Ovechkin on the Canadian Olympic hockey team, do they win? Quite possibly. Put Crosby in with the Russians, and they might not be any better than they were.

[On Olympics]:
The point is that you would rather play on an Olympic team with 23 NHL players and Mike Babcock behind the bench than one that's half KHL players, and has a coach who for a long time didn't seem to realize that he had a backup goaltender. Oh, and that the backup goaltender was better than the other guy.

Ovechkin > Malkin > Crosby

LOL @ your grudge against Crosby and LOL @ the pens fans that were dissing the caps when they lost the Habs.

I can see why Pens and Caps fans are the biggest losers in this league. Whenever the jab at each other, they simply fight for the title of worst "hockey" fans in the world.

Oh my screen name was "Habs>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Capitals & Penguins"

But I guess that reality is too much for the server to handle. LOL!

@Anonymous - I think it's pretty pathetic that you have such issues with your e-peen that you have to come on a blog of someone you don't like and talk shit. Seriously. You are pathetic. Get over yourself.

I've discovered that Habs won, just few minutes before. And I was so happy, like it was some kind of satisfaction for Sens!
Now Crosby can help his team at WC, while they're loosing to Swiss - the new Canadians slayers.
But poor Fleury and Malkin, I've been always saying that they're on the wrong team.

Crosby playing on team Canada would be nice but I don't think one player can win a game -- it is a team sport.

Let's talk about Malkin's 3 points in this series.

Hey, anon, you've got a lil' spelling error: Canadiens is spelled 'Halak', not 'Habs'...
Halak>>>>>Caps & Pens

Take Slovak out and you're Habs<0

bhahahahahahaha

@ Habs Fan... you have that wrong. The worst hockey fans in the world are those that boo the American Anthem at their games (particularly since many of their players are American). There is only one fan base in the league that shows that kind of disrespect, and that's the Habs. PS You do have a good point about the Crosby and Ovechkin haters though. We need to move past this and not show our affection for one by bashing the other. Ovi sets a great example that we should follow.

Habslak OWNED Caps&Pens said...

Yeah because Halak scored all of the Habs goals lol. Then again, he is part of the team so lets say Habslak.

Sure the caps and the pens outshot us, but if Fleury, Varlamov and Theodore cannot handle the pressure, blame your D for making it tough on them.

Did you see the Caps defense? Did you see the Penguins defense? Both absolutely terrible lol.

There is some serious work for both GMs this summer. Caps need a Volchenkov, a reliable goalie and a decent second line center. Penguins need shutdown D, and some wingers.

The Habs? All we need to do is to get rid of Sergei and Price lmao.

So yeah Habslak ftw.

If Ha(bs)lak play like he did, nobody can beat them. Those goalies can change everything, like Hasek helping Czechs to become Olympic Champions.

Still, when Halak was pulled, Caps did an incredible job on him crashing the net. Why they couldn't repeat it again? It's a mistery

I have to agree with Kim. Seriously, if I needed any more reason to think Canadian (specifically Montreal) fans are the biggest assholes when it comes to hockey, Habsfan, you have just given me that reason. Congratulations, douche bag.
