Sasha Ovechkin in Jurmala became a father. A Godfather.
Dubultsky Orthodox Church of the Holy Prince Vladimir

The Kazan "Ak Bars" defenseman and the Russian national team player Ilya Nikulin and his wife Ekaterina christened their six-month-son at the Dubultsky Orthodox Church of the Holy Prince Vladimir yesterday. The team Russia and Washington Capitals forward Alexander Ovechkin was chosen as a child's Godfather.
"I am becoming a godfather for the third time. This honor was given to me before by my relatives, my cousin's and uncle's families. I know Ilya for a long time, almost 10 years. We have close and friendly relations," says to Chas Sasha Ovechkin about Ilya Nikulin.
"And I am particularly pleased that I was entrusted to be a godfather of his first child. The sacrament was held in sincere excitement. I had goose bumps, was sweating," confessed the famous hockey player, who, as soon as he went outside of the church fence, unbuttoned his shirt to really chill up. "I am very happy and I am very pleased!" he added.
The happy parents of Ignat, who was baptized just six months after his birth, we pleased as well.
"What can I say? We are very fond of our son and he will be encouraged, accompanied by us in his life. We'll be together in sorrow and joy," said the boy's mother Ekaterina.
"And most important for Ignat to grew up healthy! We all wish him that!" adds a godmother of Ignat Maria Krylova.
A kid himself was feeling very well, he was not crying and was not capricious, smiling and posing for cameras. And he was vociferously singing a little something, and so the priest gave a blessing to the boy to sing in the choir. Ignat clutched his little hands on one of his first documents in life, the certificate of baptism, when it was given out to parents, thus the baby seemed to show that he understands what a serious event has taken place in his life. And he received the name of Ignatius during his baptism .
The little Dubultsky church for baptism was chosen on advise of the friends.
Will Ignatushka, like a real man, as his own father and godfather, play hockey? Time will tell.
"At least there will be someone to train him!" exclaims Sasha Ovechkin. "By that time I will finish with my career..."

Why Ilya chose to baptize his son in Latvia? It is in the previous post. Also there's no mentioning of Semin. Maybe it was just a mistake by Didzis Rudmanis?

If I didn't already know the story from earlier, I would have had a stroke reading the first part of the thread LOL!
I didn't realize this is Ovie's third turn as a godfather. He must really love children, which is why the parents of the children chose him for this honor and responsibility.
The photo of him smiling and laughing while holding the baby warmed my heart. Sooner or later--preferably much later--when Ovie settles down, gets married, and has children of his own, I'll be happy for him, really I will, even though my fantasy life will be seriously threatened. I'll still try to keep the fantasy going, but deep down inside I'll celebrate with Ovie and wish him and his family health and happiness in the future.
Maybe Semin didn't go to the ceremony if he wasn't a close family friend. Great pic with Ovie and the baby! I was surprised that Ovie was actually dressed better than the father of the baby, who wore ripped jeans and Ovie was wearing nice slacks.
It's so sweet. someday there will be a picture with his own child. Alex will be a great father!!!

As for dressing well, Ovie was becoming a godfather. There are still cultures that take that role very seriously.
