Ovechkin at the Moscow Dynamo soccer game
Our field reporter Emily relays it right from the Moscow Dynamo soccer stadium in Moscow (some visa problems were solved right in time courtesy to Russia and DC cooperation):
The Washington Capitals Captain and the leader of the Russian hockey Alexander Ovechkin talked to the Sovietsky Sport newspaper about the Moscow Dynamo soccer game vs. Rostov and Andriy Voronin's answer to his secret request.
Ovechkin didn't give an interview after the game. Alexander the Great had agreed to talk about it only on Sunday, when the correspondent of the Sovietsky Sport Pavel lysenkov called him.
"I am sure the fans at the soccer stadium really liked the game," said Ovechkin. "It was a beauty, not just a regular game! I am very glad that Dynamo had won. It seems I brought them some luck."
Who of your friends played for the Dynamo?
I know a lot of Dynamo players. But the closest friends are Denis Kolodin, Andrei Voronin and Sasha Samedov. It's cool that the first two scored goals!
Voronin with Kolodin even recently went with you to the recording studio, where you performed the hit along with the rapper Dzhigan.
Well, yes, we sometimes party together. Take lunch at the restaurant, watch the World Cup, for example, the semi-finals of Holland vs Uruguay.
Is this true that you've asked your friends after they'd score a goal to make a gesture as if they shot the puck?
Yeah, and Voronin did all that I've asked. Who saw it after the goal was scored, should get it. But Kolodin forgot it. He later told me that he was in shock. He scored and did not know what to do.
That's right, he's a defenceman, doesn't score often.
And then I went to the football locker room after the game. For the first time in my life! I asked Kombarov to take me there. And I congratulated the guys with the victory.
Can you do something soccer-like if you score inNHL? For example, dance a la Roger Milla in the center of the circle?
First of all Kolodin and Voronin should come to Washington and visit my game! I am inviting them. And when the guys will come, we'll talk about the bet.

I see he's wearing those "pants" again. I really thought they were swimming trunks but I guess I'm wrong.
And who is the that guy to the left of Ovi? He's always with him.
I am not sure who that man is... but it sure is wonderful to see Ovie with his Capitals cap! <3
And he looks hot... as usual. Even with the crazy pants. :P
I would pay good money to see Ovie dance after scoring!
I guess Valeria had a scheduling conflict.
It's nice to see he's rocking the Capitals merchandise.
Hmm. Those pants... Someone needs to find an incinerator. I just hope he doesn't pay as much for them as he does for his designer jeans. :P
Gotta love Ovechkin, and hope that they do come and watch him so we can see another awesome goal celebration!
Let's nix the idea of another choreographed goal celebration. That didn't go over well the first time and that was before he became team captain.
Spontaneous is still acceptable.
@Ovie: lose those pants pronto! BTW, I'll be very happy to help you lose the pants and change into something more comfortable. On second thought, no pants works for me. Any word on Semin joining us for a 3-way?
And...no coaching the soccer players on post-goal celebrations. Have you already forgotten the grief it caused you? Is there a Russian Don Cherry? I know, one of him is enough. You just know that if the soccer players follow your example, Grapes will have something negative to say and put all the blame on you.
lol Is it bad I don't hate his pants? Maybe I spent too much time around Euro's growing up... It's messed with my fashion sense. o_O
@BobbyG:
Grapes. XD Laughing out loud!
@BobbyG Sadly there have been no recent updates on Semin, he's probably back in Siberia. But there was an update on Varly vacationing in Turkey on Japers:

This just in: Semin showed up unexpectedly at Ovie's Moscow apartment where I was spending the weekend. The 3-way went on as planned. I'm pleased to report that both Alexes did celebratory dances after scoring. I did a little dance myself.
However, a sneaky Don Cherry spy got wind of the goings-on, so naturally Grapes had to say something snide on his "Coach's Corner" show. Both Alexes remain unfazed, and plans are in the works to do an encore before Semin takes off for Siberia for the rest of the summer.
Varly, vacationing in Turkey, read all about it in the Russian press. He definitely approves.
