It doesn't surprise me she's a supermodel. But she doesn't look like a typical model; she seems more like a "normal girl".
I dunno, I guess I'm just used to the "Heidi Klum" type when it comes to models.

Ovie announced it - by making a public appearance with a real live girl, and posing for a picture with her.
And looking damn well pleased with himself while he did it, too.

The main plus I see in this current relationship is what Mily said, at least she'll understand all the travelling Ovie does. I wonder how they found each other, who introduced them?
@Emily: yes Ovie does look damn well pleased with himself in the photo with her. Almost like he made a conquest? I hope for his sake and hers that there's real genuine feeling there, not that each considers the other a prime celebrity "catch." You can get a very bad case of indigestion from too much arm candy LOL.

I hope you're right about why Ovie looks so pleased with himself because I'm not so sure. Relationships are difficult enough even without the attention superstar hockey players and supermodels attract and the pressure that can create.

She's gorgeous and they both look like they're pleased with themselves. I know she's Russian, but in the video she spoke a little english which I think is good, she won't feel so out of place if she comes and visits him in DC.

Poor Semin, his heart breaks even more as he sees the latest pics of Ovie with his new soccer player friends partying. "Ovie, you're only supposed to party with me!" he cries as he rips off his Sex/Love t-shirt and ripped designer jeans. He goes to his closet and puts on tight, acid washed jeans his dad wore in 1990. He then examines his hair in the mirror and wonders how quickly it will grow into a mullet as he looks up the phone number for his new BFF, Varly. "Varly will be glad to be my new BFF. After all I told him how important it would be to get the spelling of his name corrected so his nickname wouldn't be Jizz also". Semin then starts bawling as his remembers Ovie fondly calling him Jizz.
Yeah, I was hoping she was another girl-next-door like he usually dates, but maybe her natural look is a clue that she has the ordinary girl mentality. A benefit, as some of us saw with Miss Russia, is that she has her own resources and autonomy to visit him during the season. The downside, also illustrated by Miss Russia, is that she has as much demand on her time as he does. Two people in the limelight tend not to work (see: Hollywood relationships) unless one is willing to take a backseat to the other's fame and career.

OK, I'm confused about when and how Ovie met Valeria, who could have introduced them. He went to Vegas alone, I assume. He went to the Moscow wedding with Semin LOL, poor guy must feel like the third wheel now LOL.
My question is, how long has Ovie been dating her? Since the end of last season and he kept her under wraps for months, or is this really really recent?
If this gets serious and Ovie wants to settle down and have kids, is Valeria willing to set aside her supermodel career for a while during pregnancy? I wonder if they even discussed this?

Now, I know photographers ask models to pose in weird ways sometimes for "artistic" purposes... and not that I know ANYTHING about supermodels, but with these pics from the link above, I definitely agree with AB that this girl needs a good cheeseburger. And a cookie. Or five.
But really... it makes me feel like "us fans" are just as bad as any paparazzi with wanting to know "when did he meet her, how long have they been dating, are they gonna get married and have babies...." and so on.

@mkat83: we're all not like the paparazzi just because we want to know how long Ovie and Valeria have been dating. Speaking only for myself, I'm just curious about when the heck he found the time to find her. It's very strange IMO.
If you want to know what the paparazzi are like in Ovie-fandom, check out the Girlfriends site. Some of the posters there are brutal. Some of them IMO are just being brutally HONEST.

I'd say he might have known of her for a while, but only got to know her recently and they probably hooked up this month.
As TJ said in the other thread, Ovie seems to know half of Moscow. He gets invited to events and goes clubing and counts musicans, dancers, and models as friends. The same is probably true for her since she likes a good time and models are often on invite lists. They could have met at a club, event, through a friend of a friend, online, or one of them could have asked someone to introduce them to the other (in Hollywood, agents sometimes serve as go-betweens for single celebrities).
When Ovie is single and sees someone he likes he doesn't waste time.

Being photographed in public in a pose that says "girlfriend" not "friend" (her body language is telling) combined with telling the media he was recording a song for a girl he was interested in and saying that if things went well the media would soon know.
Well , like I know she keep telling that he's not her boyfriend even though he introduce her like his girlfriend. And I really like her beautiful face,very rare type of girls.
Good question: Ovi gets photographed a lot with female fans, but on this one he is way too close to her (check their hands). You can tell they are intimate. Besides they showed up together at the party.
Interesting what Anonymous said about she saying they are not together and Ovie saying they are. I take that three ways: 1) they are testing out a relationship but aren't fully dating yet; 2) they are together but from her point of view she isn't dating him exclusively; or 3) she is being coy, possibly to keep up the media interest since Ovie's name has greater recognition.
As for her looks, I wouldn't say they are rare. To my North American eyes, they look like one of the standard European types.
@O: Thanks for the explanation about how Ovie could have met Valeria. I agree with your possible scenarios about why she's saying something different about their relationship compared to Ovie's comments. Any or all is possible in this situation IMO. I see it as a work in progress, they're both testing the waters. I just hope that keeping up the media interest isn't her primary objective in this relationship.

@mercuryillusion: I didn't intend to suggest I don't like all the comments about all subjects on the Girlfriends site. What I find there is generally humorous and good-natured. What I meant was some of the more recent comments referring to the current topic about Ovie and Valeria were brutal. The insults and name-calling there appeal to a paparazzi mentality and are totally out of line IMO.
That and there are many posts about Semin getting a sex change for Ovie... weird. Also, never gonna happen, he's not a fan of woman's hockey lol

Well, her smile certainly looks real, so that's hopeful. If she isn't ready to settle into a relationship, then they'll certainly have fun partying during the rest of the summer.
@O: I'm trying to get a read on Valeria from her photos. Unfortunately, I'm not as astute as you and some others are in this area. Bottom line, I want Ovie to be happy, personally and professionally. After all the disappointments and criticism he's had to endure this past year, he deserves to experience something positive in his life. If Valeria is it, at least for the short term, I'll support him 100% and wish him all the best.

i liked katja more, there story seemed soo much better and it just seems way 2 typical that the 25 year old millionare hockey player would be dating a supermodel. The caps hockey players are really down to earth guys, it seems to me like they would do better with someone whos not as famous as they are
