The President of Moscow Dynamo: "It's an honor..."

The President of the UHC Moscow Dynamo said in an interview to the Russian News Service that "Ovechkin got a job of an advisor not just for the summer, it is a permanent position. This is his official title and his contract does not prohibit it... It's not a summer contract, he is an adviser to the president of UHC Dynamo. So when I saw in the media that he got a job for the summer, I once again realized the press loves something sensational," said Mikhail Tyurkin.

"The title of advisor specifically does not imply for him to be present at the office or in the workplace. Ovechkin is a person who has achieved a lot, he is one of the best hockey players in the world and in general in the history of hockey. It's an honor to have such a person with the team, it is a correct and useful decision for everyone. This is a permanent position. He has in his work book an entry that from July 1st he is an advisor to President of UHC Dynamo. After that it is his right, according to the labor law, to write a resignation letter and resign within two weeks [if he wants to]. On the part of the Dynamo hockey club we do not have such interest [for him to resign]. We hope that our cooperation will be a permanent, long and productive," said the President of UHC Dynamo.

"The presence of such a person at the hockey clinics can leave the lifetime lasting memory for a child and it can only be very good," said Mikhail Tyurkin.

I would love to have some "permanent, long and productive" cooperation between Ovi and my team as well ;-)

Of course there is only one person on my team.

Well it's always good to see athletes doing work for children. :)

@bwitch16: Exactly! Except Ovie already has a permanent lifetime commitment to team BobbyG. The contract is ironclad with a no-trade clause LOL!

Seriously, I respect Ovie for taking on this challenge and responsibility to give back to his parent club and inspire young hockey fans and players.

I think it's great! I love to see that he's willing to take on something like this, that will help strengthen Dynamo as well as the KHL and doing clinics down there is awesome!

It'd be cool if he kept going with it, as long as it doesn't get in the way with the Capitals- but it doesn't sound like it will be a problem for him.

It's always good to see big people giving back to where they started. And it didn't sound like he was getting paid a lot, which I don't think he really needs.

There are some nice pics on Japers' Rink of Ovie on the job hosting a hockey clinic for young players. He's mostly wearing Team Russia stuff but the gloves look like the ones he wears for the Caps. There's a number 10 on his jersey supposedly designating this year as the start of his new gig.
