Besa Tsintsadze's power skating
Championat.ru offers a video interview with world-class power skating coach Besarion Tsintsadze, who helps to train the Pittsburgh stars Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby, Sergei Gonchar and others.
Besa:
"I am holding a hockey clinic in Zelenograd [Moscow metropolitan area]. I came from America to help young kids with skating for two weeks. I have my own ice rink and center in America. Tthe students come to me from Russia, Canada. I mostly work with Pittsburgh, but help Nashville Predators as well".
From AllHockey.ru:
"I was skating [as a figure skater -tj] the whole life with the Dynamo organization," recalls Besarion. "And then I came up with a series of exercises for power skating. Started working with Pittsburgh's farm-club in Philadelphia. And at first worked with enforcers, tough guys. Their successes have been noticed and they started talking about me. And so it happened that the coach Therrien was transferred to the main team. And he took me with him. So I got acquainted with Malkin, Gonchar, Crosby.Well, duh, the guy is a power skating coach for Pittsburgh Penguins, what else can you expect. If he would work for Capitals, it would be a different story.
Who in your opinion skates the best in the world?
I don't want to offend our Russian guys. But I will say Sidney Crosby. Because I see how he hard he is working, he sleeps on the ice. Seriously they even laugh at him. We have opened a new arena [in Pittsburgh]. So they want to reserve a room next to Zamboni so that when he leaves the ice, he can sleep there.
Do you remember how Crosby and Alexander Ovechkin were compared? By all parameters. Who won?
Ovechkin's amazing. He is a terrific hockey player. I teach kids and young people to his "explosion"; he is very sharp, explosive. But if we take the facts... Olympics - Crosby became a "golden boy", then he has the Stanley Cup. So far Sydney is leading. But in general, any meeting of these two forwards is a great show. No wonder when they selected Washington and Pittsburgh for the "Winter Classic".
