Ovechkin's in New York City
Got tweets, facebook messages and comments (thanks to everyone) about Ovechkin arriving in NYC for his final Great Eight DVD interview, the source is Alyonka Larionov:
September 12 ,2010, NYC
Just this morning watched a video (http://news.sportbox.ru/Vidy_sporta/Hokkej/spbvideo_Iliya-Kovalichuk-treniruetsya-v-Moskve) of Kovalchuk and Zherdev training in Moscow and was wondering why Ovi was not there. Now all the pieces have come together. :-) Come together. Right now. Over me. :-)
BTW, in that video they were saying that Kovi was leaving to Florida right after the workout.
Update:
Just like I said, all pieces come together (H/t to Emily)

Ha! TJ, I sent you an email about this just as you started a new thread. Ovie looks great! He must be pumped and juiced to re-join his Caps teammates and get the new season started.
BobbyG, I have to say I thought about you when I saw her first tweet!
I think we were all doing our best to alert TJ!! I am so excited to see him. The season is right around the corner!
@Steph: how nice of you to say this! But tell me please, why did you think of me when you saw Aly's first tweet?
The feelings of anxiety and unease I experienced late Friday night have disappeared. I think the photo of Ovie is responsible LOL.
BobbyG, are you Ovietracker?
Because I know how much you love him... and I do too! :-)
@Steph: LOL! No but we think alike on most Caps and Ovie topics. I only post here and RMNB. Why do you think so?
I'm still curious about what it was about Aly's first tweet that made you think of me.
@Steph again: Oops! I posted before noticing your reply to my question about Aly's tweet.
OMG TJ! I am watching Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations.. Russia episode... and guess who is on it!? VICTORIA LOPRYEVA!! I was VERY suprised, check into it TJ!!
Spasiba i udacha v budushhee,
Mattie :)
@BobbyG:
Well, I (randomly) saw the tweet, went immediately to this site to see if TJ had posted anything. Like I said, I know you love him (Im a longtime lurker, sometime commenter), so i knew you would be as happy as I was when you heard the word! :-)
I sent Alyonka the question asking if it was for Ovi, but I tried to delete it because I couldn't believe that I was asking her... but she must have seen it and responded right away, because i swear my question wasn't up there but 30 seconds. Its not even up there now. I guess we were meant to know when we did...
@Steph: we who love Ovie are always ahead of the curve to stay on top of all news about him LOL! We sometimes post simultaneously on different boards and create the impression we're either in two places at once or two people!
@Mattie: are you an AB fan too? I remember the Russia episode very well. I ROFL when AB says about Victoria "I know she's not going to be a cheap date!" It's one of my favorite NR episodes.
So nice to see Ovie back in the US, but when is he coming back to DC? Maybe in time to pick up his BFF Semin at the airport tomorrow? Russian press said Semin is coming back to US tomorrow.
@AB: Ovie knows Sidney Crosby hit a home run out of PNC Park, and wants to do him one better by going yard at Yankee Stadium LOL!
And, oh yes, I'm doing my happy dance now that Ovie is back in the USA!
@AB: I guess I need to go and stake out the airport tomorrow then ;-)
So glad he's back in the country. It's been too many loooooong months without hockey and the boys.

Thank God he's back. I've had a horrible summer. Now all is well!
Ok Ovie fans I tweeted Alyonka about when Ovie is coming back to DC:

@vtcapsfan99 from what I hear, Wednesday/Thursday!
SneakerBall is the 14th(?) so I would think he'd back in DC for that.
From Alyonka's tumblr:
Tonight, the filming of the Alex Ovechkin DVD was officially wrapped. Alex flew in from Moscow two hours before our scheduled shoot. I will say that his dedication to the project was something else. I’m proud. The end product will be fantastic.
@ Mattie:
Man, I saw one of his No Reservations in which he showed a clip of his time in Russia. Good times, good times. I feel sad that I don't have cable.
Argh, I was in New York the weekend before, and at the NHL store/studio. Bad planning on my part.
Probably just as well, I would have turned in to a blubbering idiot if I had seen him in person ;-)
