Alex Ovechkin, one of the best goal scorers in the NHL and star of the Washington Capitals has appeared in a Capital One Bank commercial that apparently is running only in the D.C area. I say that because in the commercial that state that they have the most banks in the D.C area. OK yes I am a genius. I discovered the video from Puck Daddy himself on Twitter.

Some insightful reader's comment from DC Sports Bog:
The characters in the Capital One commercials are visigoths, not vikings (I do consulting work for them and was informed of this distinction during a recent meeting). The commercial was filmed at the former Chevy Chase branch in South Riding about 6 weeks ago.

TJ, that's awesome. There was some talk about it yesterday, but not being in the DC area, I hadn't seen it. We can always count on you to get us the good stuff!

Fantastic! Thanks for posting this TJ. I wonder if Ovie in DC commercials is the start of putting his name and face even more in the forefront, perhaps a result of IMG's due diligence on his behalf?
I've seen Ovie referred to as a "caveman" in some circles, some flattering, some not. I wonder if there will be a Geico commercial in his future along the lines of the Mike Green ads?
I believe the caveman made an appearance with Mike and Alex at the awards...

Oh yeah, I love ovie ads. He's always so cute. I remember seeing a news station thing where he was in for some reason, guessing some guys name and said "Alex!" It was way too freaking cute! Not sure if I saw it here or somewhere else... anyone know what I'm talking about?

The news station thing was a brief competition to guess Topper Shutt's (the weatherman) real name.
I never paid enough attention to learn Topper's real name. Oops.
This is OT. Perhaps O or someone close to the Caps scene in DC can answer. Who or what is the space man I've seen in some Caps videos?

The spaceman is this annoying fan that attends games. It was kinda cool at first but became more annoying as the season went out. He wears a spacesuit and acts like he is walking in zero gravity. He stands up a lot and does his spacewalk, I don't know if he annoys people he sits by. He sits in different sections. Turns out that he is the owner of the Rocket Bar and it's some sort of advertising thing, so it became stupid that he was always getting recognized on TV and they were playing some space song for him. I think sometimes employees came in the suit if the owner couldn't so it wasn't always the same guy.
I read some rumor online that he was using his spacewalk thing as an excuse to bump into women and grope them, although I don't know if it was true. I personally never got that close to him at games, never stopped for a pic with him although many people did.
@AB: thanks for the info about the space man. I felt creeped out when I saw him in videos, and now I know why I got the bad vibes.
