Trotz: Ovechkin is 230 pounds of pure muscle and speed and competitiveness
By Bryan Mullen, The Tennessean, Oct. 17, 2010:
Ovechkin entered the final period with only three shots on goal, 14:05 of ice time and a minus-1 rating.
The third period wasn't much better, and it appeared Predators fans were about to witness a rarity in recent NHL history: Ovechkin being a non-factor in a game.
Then came overtime. With the score tied 2-2, Ovechkin drew a tripping penalty on Suter.
Moments later, he unleashed the shot that Laich deflected for the game-winning goal.
(Ovechkin) is one of those dynamic players," Trotz said. "You forget how big he is. He's 230 pounds of pure muscle and speed and competitiveness."
The 25-year-old Moscow native is the first player since Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux to record 200 goals and 200 assists in his first four seasons.
In 2008-09, he also won his second consecutive Hart Trophy, which goes to the player judged to be the most valuable to his team. Ovechkin became the first non-goalkeeper to win consecutive Hart Trophies since Gretzky won eight in a row from 1980-87.
washcaps: Ovi, Laich, Neuvirth, Erskine on the OT win
Ovi's stats:
1 assist, -1, 1 penalty (2 min), total ice time 23:29, 23 shifts, average shift 01:01, PP 05:30, even 17:58, 3 shots on goal, 4 attempts blocked, 1 missed, 3 hits.

Thank you, Barry Trotz. I have even more respect for you now for acknowledging what the Ovie faithful already know--he is 230 pounds of muscle, for sure, and his heart and desire are just as huge.
@BobbyG: I stopped reading after "230 pounds of pure muscle" *drool* ;-)
But he needs to get the muscle, speed, and competitiveness to join with the heart an desire to get some things moving. Please.
So what jumped out at me in the video (after seeing him laugh at what he said to Brooksie about not tipping his shot) was that he's wearing two chains again. Its been a while since Ive seen that. I remember within the last month that I had only seen one chain. No more Valeria? Forgive me if this discussion has already been had, RL has intervened over the last 6 weeks.
Nate is with Ovie and Varly at ESPN. He is Tweeting updates with photos. RedBirdie on Japers' Rink has put most of the posts in a single location:

@Steph,
Two chains are no indicator. He had two chains during training camp and every time I've seen him since the season started he's had both chains on.
She was here a week(?) ago.
@O: Thanks. I did see her at the OTT game, but... I guess i'm just trying to find a excuse for him playing like so poorly. I just watched the pred game... yuck!!
@Steph,
Ovie does have a habit of playing badly when his gfs are watching. As he grows used to them going to games he goes back to being an effective player.
