Alex Ovechkin filming a new Reebok commercial
As our field reporter EmilyB. relays, Alex Ovechkin is filming in Kalorama Harris Teeter on Saturday Night a new Reebok commercial:
Ovi's car at the scene
17th and Kalorama NW – he was filming upstairs at the old roller rink and shooting pics in the empty retail space below last night. that is his tricked out white mercedes which he came in with his dad. Yeah he was there and emerged from the rented space below the HT (used to be roller skating rink) around 8:40 last. He had been filming and doing photoshoots for Reebok ads for a few hours. He was nice and signed autographs for me and my wife.”

wow he is so clean shaven, i like him better with some scruff. can't wait to see the commercial
And he had his hair cut. It was very short at the game tonight.
It is interesting to hear what building used to be used for. Good old roller disco. ;P
Maybe he should concentrate on playing hockey and not worry about the commercials. Most games he doesn't seem like the Ovechkin we all love.
he he seems more like an all around, team first, i don't have to do it alone player we all should love him more for.
Ah that explains why he was all clean shaven and hair cut and all. I thought mom was in town :-)
@Marge: I agree, like the scruffy look better. Hee looks so young in that picture. And yes, he is more about the team, less himself now, which is good but still miss the his antics. Need more goodies for the Ovechcam :-)
Paul: I don't think filming commercials is preventing him from being himself. Some were speculating that he might have some injury he is playing through.
I saw Valeria again at the game yesterday. She was wearing a Caps hat and was with the same friend as last game. She was eating those dipping dots icecream.
And why Ovi should stop filming commercials? It's fun and it promotes the game of hockey after all. Does it distract him? Maybe just a little, but if he won't score another goal in regular season, that's fine with me.
I'm pretty sure there won't be any distractions like that in playoffs.
@AB,
I think the girl with Valeria is her friend from NY and perhaps from the model circle. She looks like the one who went to the Halloween party with her.
I think Ovie hasn't looked like himself most games this year. We've all commented on it. It could be the change in training, injury, illness, distractions, but he is also using his teammates more and looking more team-oriented. The downside of the latter, is that he has sometimes passed to teammates when he should have shot. The other players, especially those who make their living off rebounds are caught off guard and have fewer opportunities to ply their trade. A balance needs to be found.
He does look so young when he shaves.
I'm glad to hear Valeria was eating Dippin Dots. Probably good for her :)
@O I don't think the friend is a model, she was heavier and her hair wasn't looking that great, she really wasn't very attractive. But maybe she cleans up really well. It's nice for Valeria to have a friend around, I'm sure Ovie is busy a lot. Is Valeria doing modeling jobs in NY or just hanging out in NY and DC?
@AB,
The reason why I thought you might have seen her with the NY friend is because she posted this after the game:

Is it the person you saw?
@AB,
In answer to your other question, I assume she is still modeling, but there can be a lot of down time. Now that the fall Fashion Weeks are over, there are mostly only minor shows, magazine spreads/print ads, and working with photogs to keep your portfolio current.
Someone else who follows the current crop of models more than I do, has commented that Valeria only models because she is attractive enough to do so without much effort. She also said that she could become big in the industry but is too lazy. She likes to be admired and likes the easy life. She has improved her runway work and editorials, but when she doesn't have work she is too distracted by fun. In sum, Valeria doesn't have the attitude to fulfill her potential.
Wow. Ovie looks so young in the photo I thought it was from a few years ago. I also prefer a little scruff, a little facial hair and a longer cut. IMO he looks more manly, more like a rugged hockey player that way.
I have no problem with Ovie filming commercials. So far he has 8 goals in 14 games, which extrapolates to a 57 goal season assuming he plays all 82 games. If he has those stats while "distracted" imagine what he could accomplish with no new ads.
@0 thanks for the info. Nice pic you posted. That is not the girl I saw with Valeria at the Friday night game. Upon reflection that might have been the girl I saw Sunday night. On Friday night I walked right past her so I saw her very well. Sunday night I saw her through the crowd and was concentrating on Valeria and not the friend. I saw that she was with someone wearing a hat but couldn't really see much of her and my aunt said it was the same friend. But I'm thinking it wasn't after seeing your pic. The girl in the pic you posted the link for is very attractive, Friday night girl was not at all and was a little heavy.
I also agree that Ovie looks better with some scruff.
Oops, I made a typo. Ovie's stats extrapolate to a 47 goal season. That's a good number for almost anyone else, but he's certainly capable of more, assuming he plays 82 games and remains motivated to win the Rocket Richard trophy.
