~Caps GM George McPhee
~Gordie Howe
“He’s amazing. There aren’t enough words in English or Russian to describe him.”
~Chris Drury
"He's like the shark in Jaws, circling in the water waiting for blood. They should play that music from the movie – da-duh, da-duh, da-duh - when he's out on a shift. He doesn't just go after loose pucks, he hunts them down."
~John Davidson, President of Hockey Operations for the St. Louis Blues.
Keep the faith, TJ, and keep up the good work.
Thank you, Alex Ovetjkin, for killing this ridiculous storyline with this post.

Just wanted to thank you for posting my book on your blog, which I consulted a fair bit while researching and writing the book. In particular, the comprehensive list of links on alexovetjkin.blogspot.com is the best library on Ovechkin material available anywhere.

After the last 2 games which IMO were subpar for the Caps in general and Ovie in particular, I expected Coach BB's practice to be very businesslike. It's not just about winning games, it's about winning games the right way so as to establish good habits that will serve them well in the playoffs.
As much as I like Brooks Laich, his "little things" comments have gone beyond the hockey cliche category. No Brooks, it's not about the "little things" as if you can compartmentalize and isolate aspects of the game into separate segments. It's about playing the game to create a whole that's greater than the sum of its parts so as to have no weak links, no Achilles heel.
If you're thinking about what to do in certain situations, your timing will be off and you won't be in position to shoot the puck, make the pass, block the shot, whatever. It's about rhythm and melody, with everyone playing the same piece of music in tune. IMO that's what is crucial for a team to win a championship.
Iäm going to the game tonight and Iäm hoping for some big things from all of the boys. Time to make up for the terrible game on Saturday.
Sidenote, a couple of friends went on Sunday and they said that Erskin got a 4 minute standing ovation for his fight and they kept showing it on the jumbotron. Love that guy. :-)
Sorry but from my perspective folks need to lighten up re: "It's not just about winning games, it's about winning games the right way so as to establish good habits that will serve them well in the playoffs."
I thought winning was a habit we wanted them to get in and stay in.... They (games) won't all be pretty but if throughout a bad game they make adjustments, keep their feet moving and mind their sticks so they come back and win even when they have a bad game, isn't that one of the key things you care about at this point of the season. If not the only thing?
Unrelated, but apparently Ovi is on the Call of Duty bandwagon:

I have seen a lot less of my husband since the new version of that game was released recently. Hope Ovi doesn't spend too much time with it!
