Carlson: I think we 're gonna be ready to go tomorrow night
If you missed Great Eight DVD on the NHL Network today, they will re-air the documentary Dec. 22 at 6 p.m., Dec. 25 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 27 at 7 p.m. (H/t to our reader "O".)
Ovi, Carlson, Knuble, Chimera, Bradley and Boudreau
Just about time to bounce back and be ready for Pens on New Year's eve.
I couldn't believe myself, but I was rooting for Flyers tonight and they ended Pens 12 game win streak. Now the pendulum is swinging back (Damien Cox jinxed it :-).
Bruce Boudreau on ESPN's SportNation:
Were you as surprised as I was to see Ovie fighting the other night?
Yes. I was surprised but when he saw the guy coming at him, he thought there was no recourse. He saw him coming at him and he decided to be the aggressor and not let someone jump him.
As a fan it seems like Ovechkin can get pretty excited on the ice. As a coach, do you ever have to talk with him to try and calm him down?
No. My thought on that is the more he's excited, it reminds me of The Hulk. The madder he gets the stronger he gets. The more excited Alex gets the better he gets. It's when he's sullen you worry about him.
"Well, he was just seventeen, and you know what I mean, and the way he looked, was WAY beyond compare." :-)
It's strange to see Ovi smile and not having a missing tooth... What a beautiful smile he had... Now you have to wait another 10 years to see that :-)

I'm not too worried about the Capitals. I think everyone is blowing it out of proportion.
Yes, they've lost six in a row for the first time, but you know what? Most teams have streaks like that and get past it, why should they be any different? It's not like they've fallen out of a playoff spot or anything.
I don't know how long people on the team have been sick, I heard about it a few losses in but still that is another reason to not be so hard on them.
I think the break from the ice will do them good for tonight. People need to chill, they're all human too. Even Ovechkin. lol
-- On another note, OWEN NOLAN & TML HAT!!!! <333 How cute is young Ovie?
---On a even different note, I think the price is right is kind of weird to have him on. Seems to be setting him up to lose- but I've never watched the show.
You're supposed to guess the price of certain things, right? American pricing? I'd so die on that show lol
GO WASHINGTON, ROAST SOME DUCK TONIGHT!
It would be awesome if Ovi was like the Hulk; all green and clothes ripping ;-)
@Mango: I don't think they are competing on The Price is Right, just presenting this price, so to speak. But I could be wrong.
I hope tonight is the night they turn on the mojo again. They need to get their confidence back in order to get back to where they should be. Let's go Caps!
funny story TJ. I went to practice early today to get some things signed. Well Semin pulled up, all decked out in Russia gear, he forgot his key to get in so he heads towards the front door. Ovie rolls up as semin is entering Kettler. Ovie signs for me and realizes he forgot his key too and proceeds to pull out his phone to call semin, semin doesn't answer so Ovie goes through the front door as well. Backie pulls up as Ovie is headed towards the door, he gets out of his car and screams "Ovie, what are you doing?" Ovie replies I forgot my key and walks through the door. Backie follows shortly after.
It's even more amusing because I have pictures to go along.

He still has a beautiful smile, even with the gap: it lights his whole face, and that's where the beauty comes from.
@Darla: I agree, there is nothing fake in that smile. Just gorgeous crazy happy. Hopefully we'll see lots of that tonight.
@Marge
Amusing. How early were they there or were they running late?
SEMIN IS OUT!!!! WHY ARE ALL MY RIGHT WINGERS OUT??
I really hope the Caps win. Especially with Andrew Gordon in the line up. Also, what was the point of sending him down, ruin his b-day? lol
@Marge: Those pictures are cool. What's with Mike's clothes though? Is he trying to outdo the russians? lol It's not that bad, but he sometimes makes less than appealing fashion choices.
@bwitch16: about your image of Ovie as the Hulk, all green and clothes ripping...RAWR! :)
To end the skid, the Caps as a team must do exactly as Brooks Laich said. They have to dig down deep within themselves and find their passion again, why they love hockey so much. And then they must do proper homage to the sport by putting out nothing less than their best effort. If they succeed, they will make the Ducks look like a cooked Christmas goose.
GO CAPS!!!
@BobbyG: Hopefully you have HBO and got to watch last nights 24/7 premiere. Painfull recap of the past couple of games, lots of Bruce cussing, but a nice icing on the cake of Ovi in just a towel shaving ;-)~~
@bwitch16: I ordered HBO just to see 24/7, and will cancel after the requisite time to avoid disconnect penalties, which will be soon after the fourth and final episode. It was very painful to watch. Is that Coach Boudreau's coaching style when the team is down? I'm not impressed.
But you're correct. Ovie in just a towel shaving was a bright spot, the only one. What an overall downer that hour was, re-hashing so much of the Caps' losing streak.
As much as the episode was depressing from a caps fan point of view (Also, I do not like the Pens as a team) but the production- and Ovi in his undies- was very well done. I was just in love with the camera work. Hopefully things will be more positive the rest of the special.
