Coach Bruce Boudreau entered the locker room
By Paul Tenorio, Capitals Insider, Dec. 20-, 2010:
After his team fell behind by two goals in the first period Sunday in Ottawa, Coach Bruce Boudreau entered the locker room and told the effing Capitals that the upcoming effing period was effing likely the effing most effing important they would effing face all effing season.
Before HBO 24/7 first episode there were warnings about adult language, not for kids, etc. I was salivating though, hoping that would be a new and better version of Slapshot, especially since Bruce Boudreau was featured there (Washington Capitals head coach Bruce Boudreau appears as an opposing player in one scene.). Well, at least his apartment, for the most part. It turned out Bruce's profanity was as primitive as Caps offense have been recently. Just insert 'effing' after every word and you got it.
Compare it with Slapshot:"
They come here tonight... to scout the Chiefs! The toughest team in the Federal League! Not this bunch of... pussies!
Or something close to Reggie's speech:
It's their rink, it's their ice and it's their fuckin' town.
But tonight we got our fans with us! - Yeah!
They spent their own dough to get here, and they came here to see us.
Let's show 'em what we got. Get out on the ice and let 'em know you're there.
Get that stick in their side, let 'em know you're there.
Get that lumber in his teeth, let him know you're there!
Bleed all over 'em. Let 'em know you're there.
Give 'em a good warm-up, Danny. Let's go.
Come on, fellas.
I am really disappointed and I am going to call Bruce and complain... :-)

Ugh, don't get me started on him. Honestly, he's not a very good coach imo. He doesn't give direction to them during the game and I'm not sure how his tactics are in the dressing room or practicing, but he's not doing something right.
I really wasn't impressed by his "speech" on HBO. I get it- you're angry, you've lost how ever many games at that point- but really? That half-hearted attempt to get them juiced up was pathetic.
It's not even the swearing, but what he was saying and the fact he had no emotion in it other than eff this and eff that.
It really seemed like he was playing it up for the camera- and yes, it could be the losing streak, but he just didn't seem to have the heart- like Pat Burns, when he yelled at the team, they FELT it inside, they felt his energy, his desperation to win- but with Boudreau? It just seemed to let them down.
I've been on a team where we've gone winless for a long time and while it was a kids soccer team, when the coach yelled at us-no swearing, but basically the same idea- it didn't motivate us, it pissed us off.
They know they aren't playing well, but you change things up both coaching as well as roster. Put Bradley on the third and special lines since he's working well right now, TELL OVIE TO SHOOT.
The beginning of the season, he was told to pass more to defend his "two-way" playing ability. He doesn't look confident and looks for a good pass before a good shot. He's a great player, but when you aren't giving him direction, can you really expect him to do it all? It's not a very good system.
@TJ,
Puck Daddy has new Ovie CCM commercials.
(I hope Ovie's wrist gets better soon or he's going to have more commercials than goals this year.)
@O: What did he do to his wrist? He also needs to stop falling down so much :-)
More people need to shoot the puck, less passing IMO. Backstrom spends way too much time trying to pass the puck instead of trying to take a shot.
During preseason versus the Preds, Shea Weber slashed Ovie's wrist, some say he slashed it twice. Ever since then, Ovie has been rubbing and icing his wrist after almost every shift.
It is hard to maintain puck control, and shoot with accuracy or force when you have a bad wrist.
Now that the Caps ended their losing streak, we might get some examples of Bourdreau's expanded vocabulary beyond the F-bombs.
Ovie's wrist injury has been discussed and debated on numerous sites. Thanks to O for providing input here. IMO it's one of the main reasons--not the only one--for Ovie's diminished goal scoring this season.
He also has been falling down a lot, as bwitch16 said. Whether it's a result of his being distracted dealing with wrist pain, mismatched CCM skates, or both, I've noticed his numerous falls on the ice too.
