Vintage Ovechkin goal and post-game interview
Alex Ovechkin has his shot back, and the score even with this hard shot past Jimmy Howard.
Post-game interview with Alexander Ovechkin in Detroit Wednesday, March 16, 2011.
Again, Ovi looks like he lost a lot of weight. He is peaking up for playoffs, baby!

In reference to previous discussions related to Ovi's tobacco use or not, and looking at him in this video, I'd say Marcus has turned him on to the Swedish crap called snus.

Mojo, I'll kill you next time I see you if that is so :-)
@bwitch16: you can tell Ovie is chewing tobacco in the video? I didn't see it, maybe because I didn't want to. I was mostly fixated on the red gash on Ovie's right cheek. He had a similar gash last season which healed, but now it's back.
If a Swede is responsible for Ovie's habit, maybe Marcus J. isn't responsible, it could be Nicky B. If Ovie's been chewing for a while, maybe Nicky got him started since he's been around Ovie longer.
Yes, Nicky is also a snus user.
Ovie said in a recent Russian interview that you translated for us TJ that he was 225 now.
So, I posted this over at RMNB, but thought I'd post here too....
So, I just wanted to say I was at this game, my first live game… yay! I was really impressed with the number of Caps jerseys that I saw in the stands. We had great seats to see Ovi’s goal, which was a highlight for me. Of course I would have preferred a win more.
I don’t know if it happens in other cities when the Caps play, or if this is just indicative of Detroit fans, but in the 3rd period, the fans booed every single time Ovi touched the puck. Maybe I’m just naive and this happens to other popular players as well, but it struck me as a real lack of class from the Wings fans. Oh, and the fans really didn’t make any noise at all until the 3rd period. At least from what I observe on TV, the Caps fans can get loud at any time in the game!
@BobbyG: It's not chewing tobacco anymore, more like dip but in pouch form. Still not good, but can be less obvious unless you know what to look for. My ex used it so for me it was pretty obvious seeing this video.......Marcus uses it and it has been quite obvious when he has been interviewed before, I haven't seen Nick use it so can't speak for that.
I was at the game, too, and as a life-long Wings fan, I was very embarrassed by the booing. There was no reason for it, and honestly, the only other player I've heard booed that way at the Joe is Pronger. It was classless, I agree. The crowd is usually much noisier than they were, too - I assure you, Wings fans can be as loud as any.
I was very torn, because I'm a huge fan of the Caps, and I ended up applauding for both sides. I couldn't lose! It was a thrill to see Ovi in the flesh - he's HUGE.
I hope the people in the stands treated you well. :) - Jody C.
@mkat83: I'm glad you enjoyed the game and got to see Ovie in person and score a goal. I hope I can have a similar experience someday.
@bwitch16: thanks for the clarification about dip/chewing tobacco. As you can tell, I know next to nothing about such products which IMO is a good thing.
@J.A. Cummings: thanks for your input as a Wings fan. I also was upset when I read mkat83's post about Wings fans booing Ovie. It's nice to know there are fans like you who root for another team but can still appreciate Ovie's talent. As I said, it would be a thrill of a lifetime to see Ovie play in person--to check out how HUGE he is LOL!
@J.A.-- my husband's uncle works security at the Joe, and he acted like I would be heckled for wearing a Caps t-shirt. No one said a thing to me, and I felt pretty comfortable once I saw the number of other Caps shirts and jerseys around the arena.
Yes, it was really cool to see them all in real life. I thought Sasha minor looked very young in real life. They all look so tall, but I figured that is partly due to the fact they are wearing skates.
Here are my pics from the game:

There is nothing super amazing, but I was happy to be close enough to get good pics.
@Mkat,
Ovie is booed in every arena now. The boos in Detroit were mild in comparision.
