One down, more to go

OvechkinBruce Boudreau talks to media after a win 3:1 over NY Rangers

Na na na na, na na na na, hey hey-ey, goodbye Rags ( We are louder :-)

Eric Fehr
Not gonna lie, thats the loudest I've ever heard Verizon Center! Great win, thanks for the help fans!

As I predicted Ovi had a great game, awesome fake shot and pass to Green for game winning goal by Greenie, then a goal on a breakaway where Ovi usually doesn't score, but he did this time.

Ovechkin's stats:
after 1st:
1 assist, total ice time 06:53, 7 shifts, average 00:59, PP 01:56, even 04:57, 1 shot on goal, 2 attempts blocked, 1 missed, 3 hits

after 2nd:
1 goal, 1 assist, total ice time 12:04, 13 shifts, average 00:55, PP 02:59, even 09:05, 2 shots on goal, 3 attempts blocked, 3 missed, 3 hits

final:
1 goal, 1 assist, +1, total ice time 20:03, 22 shifts, average 00:54, PP 02:59, even 17:04, 4 shots on goal, 3 attempts blocked, 3 missed, 3 hits

Scary, the screws from the helmet flying after the puck hit it, wow...

Update:
Another GWG for Ovi! (H/t to BobbyG):
Green didn't get the game winning goal, Ovie did! If there was a shutout, Green would have had the GWG since he scored first. But since the Rangers scored one late, Ovie gets the GWG because he got the second goal.

TJ, you were right when you said on another thread that the first 10 minutes of the game will be key. Brandon Dubinsky confirmed it no doubt. I scanned twitter and thenyrangers posted that after the game Dubinsky said the Caps had his team "under siege" the first half of the game "they poured it on us"

It was obvious almost from the time the puck dropped the Caps wanted to win this game. They showed intensity, resolve, and commitment the way a true champion plays. Whatever team the Caps play next better watch out because IMO the only way the Caps will lose is if they beat themselves. And the Caps don't look at all like a team that beats themselves.

Words can't describe the feeling in that building today. The Caps came out with purpose and focus like nothing else, and executed to the tee.

Eric Fehr was not kidding, I have never heard the place that loud, it was insane, but oh what a feeling ;-)

I hope they take this time off to practice, rest and focus on the next opponent, but as bobbyG said, if they play like they did today, all teams better watch out :-)
