Ovi's ex
Turned out Ovi's new girlfriend, the one she was at the movie, is his ex. Can you believe this is her? She looks a whole lot hotter now.

We are not discussing each other's personal life in principle. I talk to Sasha just about my job, about my dance ensemble. After all, I am a professional dancer, interned for two years in Switzerland. I could stay there, but I missed Moscow. I came back, settled at the "Dynamite" and this is how we met.
Our group performs in the intervals during hockey, basketball and volleyball games of Dynamo club.
And Sasha saw my picture on the wall at the arena and then persuaded HR people to give him my phone number. Why do we parted? Maybe it was jealousy, maybe something else. Cuba is a hot country, the ocean, the emotions fly... It takes time for all to be subsided. And then, perhaps, our love will erupt with renewed vigor. Let's wait and see.
And what you friends from the dance ensemble say?
They say, "If it is destined to, so be it..." By the way, I remained in good terms with Sasha's mother. And perhaps, if Sasha would call me to go to DC, I probably would go..."

Time has passed. Suddenly Sasha wrote her an email. He said he soon would come to Moscow and would like to see her. It was followed by a second email, third, fourth ... They started to write each other. Sasha was describing his life in Washington, and once wrote to Anna that he missed her and remembered everything that was between them.
Last summer they met in Moscow. They walked the city at night, had fun, were laughing. A few days later Ovechkin invited Anna for the dinner at his home. His mother, Tatiana, had made a pirog with the apples (apple pie -tj) and cooked dinner with French meat recipe. And Sasha's father pulled out from his silos a bottle of collectible red wine. In short, the truce held.
"Don't think that I'm a womanizer," said to Anna Ovechkin. "Half of what they write about me is nonsense. I'm feel good with you. And I no longer need anybody else.
Today, one year later, Anna and Sasha are together again. Ovechkin wants to take a girl to America, but she has to quit her job.
"Can you sacrifice something for me?"asked her Alex smiling.
"I'll think about it," coyly replied Anna.
Ovechkin's friends think that the case moves towards the wedding. Sasha's parents, to our knowledge, endorse the choice of their son.
hmmm... So last year it was Lera and Anna... Or Anna and Lera... This year it is Anna and Lera (but not the one from last year, this is the one I called Ovi's new personal trainer :-)
One thing is clear, Anna and Ovi are good friends, and I think they are just good friends.

Ah, that's why she looked familiar to me. She is an ex after all. And I agree, she looks much better now that she's older. But IMO so does Ovie.
But I'm confused. The article says they met last summer in Moscow and Ovie's Mom made dinner. Was this before he started dating Valeria in July? Ovie moves from one to another...
Which brings up this. Ovie told Anna that half the stuff written about him is nonsense. What about the other half? Is Anna considering going to DC with Ovie this season or not?
I guess we'll soon find out if they're serious or just friends. The Ovie saga continues. :)
BTW, how many girlfriends, the serious kind, has Ovie had? Does anyone have a count? If he brought someone to DC each season, then #7 should be on the way. I can only imagine how many others there have been in between LOL.
Ok, so here is how it is:
First, they were boyfriend and girlfriend in 2005.
Then, they got separate because Ovi went to DC.
Then she got broken hearted because she heard of Ovi's new girlfriends.
Then in the last summer he invited her to a dinner with his family were they both made peace.
Now, in 2011 they are back together.
I don’t know you guys, but I think this could be the girl. He came back twice for her and not for any other of his past “girlfriends.” He probably has strong feelings for her or maybe he thinks she is perfect for a wife. I mean mama and papa ovi like her so she must be a good girl.
@Devi: I agree she might be the one for Ovie, or at least he thinks she is. It certainly helps that his parents like her.
The only caveat to that for me is, Ovie is still hurting from playoff and other hockey disappointments and might desperately be looking for some happiness to fill the empty spaces in his heart. Also consider Ovie went to a wedding last year and this year, and he might be getting ideas that now might be the time for him.
It seems he asked her to sacrifice for him, to give up her job. IMO Anna should think very carefully about this given how heartbroken she was when they first broke up. And yes, he does have a reputation for loving and leaving women. Many women. She might be hesitating because she isn't quite sure he means it this time.
On the surface I like her a lot because she seems to not be caught up in publicity and self-absorption. The question is, is Ovie really ready to settle down for the right reasons, and does she trust him and believe him enough to sacrifice her job to commit completely to him?
As I already said, this Ovie saga continues. This will be a very interesting summer on Ovie watch.

Just take everything from Russian media with a grain of salt. Have to say, they provided a lot details, seems like they really interviewed her.
And remember, after the movie premiere there were other photos that BobbyG found.
I think they are very good friends, as much as a man and a woman can be :)
Oh and one more thing. Where does Valeria 2, the "fitness trainer" fit in this scenario? What was Ovie doing with her at the Imperia Lounge while he was supposedly also trying to win Anna back? There are other photos in the set not posted on this blog but are on V2's vkontakte.ru site. Does Anna know about these photos, and if she does, is that why she's hesitating?

What's going on here, a post disappeared. That's why my previous one doesn't make sense. I already forgot what I said prior to that so please disregard. I think I need some sleep very badly.
My thinking is just wait and see what happens. I think if Ovie was really serious about this girl, she wouldn't be running to talk to the press. I really don't think he'd appreciate that. He's said before how much he dislikes the paparazzi and the lies they tell. Recall how they suggested Valeria 1 was an escort? Although she does seem to go from rich man to rich man with no evidence of a job so who knows.
Let's hope the best for Ovi - he deserves it! If he is serious about being serious - I think it will calm him down a bit in his social life which will spill over to his hockey career and WIN IT ALL!!!!!

As to how many actual gfs, I count seven from what I've observed including Anna, but I wasn't paying as much attention his first 3 years here.
As for Anna today, I think she falls in the category of an important ex who is now just a friend. They cleared the air and have moved on.
Having a female as a friend should be a nice change for Ovie. Maybe he'll start viewing females in a deeper way once he gets to know one well without all the distractions of shallow dating. He still needs to get beyond wife, mother, and arm candy. Women are more complex than that. Will he learn in time? We'll just have to wait and see.
In short, an ex can be your biggest ally and your most insightful critic.
After some more thought--after some much needed sleep--I agree to wait and see what, if anything, happens between Ovie and Anna. Even if she isn't a girlfriend, it won't hurt for him to have a grounded female friend he can depend on for honesty and loyalty. I've commented in the past that some of his friends might not bring out the best in him. Anna is someone he knows from before his NHL career took off, before the fame and celebrity took hold. She liked him then, liked him for himself, a refreshing change from some of the women in his life. A female friend like Anna could inspire Ovie to make some of the changes in his life he has talked about, and not just for playing hockey.
I think it's funny how nobody mentioned that she's on good terms with his mother. It seems as though, Mama Ovechkina isn't always the biggest fan of his female companions. To hear that they are on good terms, and talking to her.
She's by all means, I nice woman, but she seems very protective of Alex. Hasn't liked many of his past girlfriends, either. Maybe there is hope, after all?
Again, even if she is just a friends, it is good. He has someone to talk to who he can take seriously, knows him for other than hockey and drinking. Good for him, either way. I wish him the best and a strong season.
Oh, my bad. I see someone had mentioned it. I need to learn how to read, apparently.
