A night at the Opera

Not a Queen album, just Ovi and other Caps players were seen at the Opera Ultra Lounge. It is not open yet to the public, the grand opening is this Thursday.

By Nikki Schwab And Katy Adams, the Washington Examiner, Sept. 5, 2011:

Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin was seen sipping Friday night at D.C.'s newest nightclub, Opera Ultra Lounge. A Yeas & Nays spy tells us he appeared to be with about 10 teammates and the group took up three tables at the club. The players ordered bottles of Blue Moon beer, a bottle of Chivas 18 Scotch, Moet Nectar magnum, Grey Goose magnum and some Patron. We're told Ovi was looking casual cool sporting a white T-shirt and jeans.

More about the club here:
While still under construction, Opera is designed to be a unique lounge with a positive and upscale atmosphere and vibe, with emphasis on service. The space was designed by Francois Frossard, a famed nightclub/lounge designer that has laid out some of the most lavish nightclubs in Miami like Set, Mansion, Privie, and ArKadia. This means very modern and stylish decor, interesting furniture, futurisic layout, bright colors, and a very cool vibe. Their sound and lights are being done by Baha Design Group, the same people who did Policy and Josephine in DC.

And now back to announcement from Ovi that is expected today... :-)

From Capitals Overtime:
Ovechkin’s ride at KCI on a dreary Tuesday. Make sure to tune in to Caps365 later today for his special announcement at 2pm. We will be streaming live.

Announcement no surprise. It's great Ovie & Bauer will donate 108 sets of hockey equipment to Dynamo & teams in DC. Awesome news!

Ovie's switch from CCM to Bauer not surprising at all. He had issues with CCM sticks at least going back to October 2010:

I'm really happy about Bauer. I've liked their equipment for a long time, usually lasts a long time as well. Not to mention, after having problems with one brand, it might make him feel a bit more confident in himself with better gear.

I'm not surprised that was his announcement, a public announcement was probably in his contract.

I think the donations are a great idea! I remember my parents running around, doing extra to be able to get my brother hockey gear. Luckily my oldest brother liked soccer or it would've been impossible.

Ovi donated hockey gear to Dynamo last year too, didn't he?
