According to Washington Capitals web site Ovi's weight is at 225 lbs. This is real data because I've checked the other players weights and the numbers have changed. For example, last year DJ King was listed at 233 lbs, this year he is at 230 lbs.
Here are weight numbers for the heaviest Caps players (last year/this year):
Mike Knuble: 227/230
John Erskine: 224/218
Jeff Schultz 232/227
The numbers might change a bit when the official Washington Capitals media guide will be available after September 16th.

Here is Alex' weight over the years:
Age Season lbs G A Pts 19 2005/06: 212 52 54 106 20 2006/07: ? 46 46 92 21 2007/08: ? 65 47 112 best 22 2008/09: 220 56 54 110 23 2009/10: 233 50 59 109 24 2010/11: 234 32 53 85 25 2011/12: 225
We know that the main goal for Ovechkin is not his personal stats, but it won't hurt to beat his own 65 goals, 47 assists record.

Svelte Ovechkin is ready!
Update from Capitals Insider, Mark Nemish confirms:
“I already know he’s in shape, I can tell. We’ve worked several times on the ice and he’s without a doubt in the best shape I’ve ever seen him.
I wouldn’t say that they were big philosophical changes. There was probably more of a change in terms of timing of when to get involved. His commitment has been much more involved at earlier time. He’s got more under his belt in terms of when he started to train.
All I can tell you is that what he’s done this summer and the more time that he has put in, it certainly has paid off. He’s ready to go at a much quicker rate than he’s had in the past.”

Update (Sept. 13, 2011):
Players’ weights have not been updated for this season yet. Their official weights will be taken on Friday during physicals prior to the start of training camp. Sorry for any confusion.
I think we need an apology, but not from Katie. Who was responsible to put bogus numbers on Washington Capitals web site? And not just Ovi's, but all other players?
I believe the players weights are real, but they are not official. You can't just make up these numbers. They are different from the last year for all players I've mentioned.
P.S. If someone has Washington Capitals media guides for 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons at hand, please look and let me know what Ovi's weight was back then. I would really appreciate it.
