Irresponsible journalism

Irresponsible journalism if you could call John Steigerwald a journalist. Ryan Lambert (Yahoo Sports) wrote an excellent article on the subject, "What We Learned: Squashing an Alex Ovechkin steroid accusation".

To summarize:

Ovechkin's so called "personal doctor" Anthony Galea never treated him.

A chiropractor, whom the Capitals admit treated some of its players for various chiropractic reasons, never treated Alex Ovechkin. Here's the list of Caps players who received the treatment: Eric Fehr, Matt Bradley and Shaone Morrisonn.

Ovechkin, who regularly participates in IIHF events like the World Championships, is tested for drugs more often than any other Capitals player.

Ovechkin, having completed his Olympic participation nearly two years ago, could have gotten back on his apparently-needed steroids any old time he wanted since then.

 "Ovechkin Correction" -

If you click on a tweet link, you can see how John Steigerwald is backpedaling already. Now he says that personal doctor info was incorrect and the whole thing is just his opinion. Yes, everyone is entitled to it, but he posted his "opinion" not on HF Boards, but in the newspaper. And that is called "allegation". And for the allegation there could be a lawsuit coming...
Hollywood actor Tom Cruise and his wife Nicole Kidman have won their court action against a tabloid newspaper.

On Thursday Cruise and Kidman accepted substantial, undisclosed libel damages in the High Court in London over the allegations.

Cruise, 36, who was present in court, had sued over an article in the Express on Sunday Magazine which also alleged that the actor, who together with his wife has adopted two children, was impotent and sterile.
