Not that Ovi cares one whit about my opinion, but I think all the facts we know about her are perfect for him, and better than anyone he's been with before.
She's not a tiny, delicate, slip of a girl who needs constant attention and support. She's a big, strong professional athlete whose sport takes her all over the world all year round, and makes quite a bit of money on her own (not Ovi money, but very good compared with normal people).
Frankly, the major problem I could see arising would be that she would be gone too much for Alex, or that she would decide to scale back her tennis career because of him (which would be a mistake). Then again, Alex was raised by a professional female athlete (Mama must love that he's dating an athlete, not a "dancer").
I was at practice for that bag skate a couple weeks ago, and I saw her in the stands with Misha and Papa Ovi. Didn't realize she was a world-ranked tennis player, but I was impressed to see an assumed girlfriend of Ovi's at practice, especially that one, which everyone knew would be brutal.
But what a gorgeous couple they are! He's definitely in prime proposal time of his life. This will be interesting to see what happens. I loved his pride and happiness in this tweet.
I just hope he gets his game back on track so no one blames the relationship (and I really, really hope the relationship has nothing to do with his game).
Sorry to babble so long, I just don't know where else to talk about this! Thank you for this site! I read all the time, but seldom comment. :)

Oh, also, I was looking at her official website (here: www.mariakirilenko.com), and realized another good thing about her...she speaks English!
Anyway, there is a part of her website called "Diary" (here: http://www.mariakirilenko.com/?cat=3) and her last post was on November 8. Though most entries are in English, this one is in Russian. Google translate says it says:
"Maria: I Am Now In America
Hello, everyone!
So began my long-awaited vacation, or rather I have it started after a tournament in Luxembourg, but in connection with the participation of our team I had to resume training again! It's a shame that failed to beat cheshek, but it's a game and someone had to win!
I have now in America, decided to spend their holidays here, I will return to the training process in a couple of weeks!
So do not be bored! Always with you!
Your Maria"
Also, almost all the pictures of her with fans are men! And most of the comments are men! I hope Ovi doesn't get too jealous. ;-)

Pffft. The only Ovie scoring I'm interested in is on the ice where it really matters.
Nothing tonight against the Pens. I would have thought this game would get his competitive juices flowing. Not so, what a shame.
Obviously Ovi left any sort of juices he had somewhere else and had nothing left for his team. Pathetic.
Ovie's fall from greatness has been shocking, as painful to watch as standing by helplessly as a loved one slowly slips into death. After the game he was asked how he felt about his and his team's performance, and he replied, "It’s not frustrating. It’s nothing. If we’re going to play like this, it’s going to turn around and it’s going to be luck on our side.”
So Ovie isn't even bothered by how he and his team are doing. He thinks luck will snap them out of it. How about hard work? Is he doing everything he can on and off the ice to get better?
I know, my disappointment and frustration are starting to show, and it's definitely affecting my outlook. But Ovie only got off ONE SHOT ON GOAL the entire game. You can't score if you don't shoot.
Ovie should take the advice from his late departed CCM commercial (remember?): MORE PRACTICE FOR YOU! Because the way things are now, he looks like playing hockey is just a job for him. The passion and enthusiasm that once were the trademarks of his game are nowhere to be seen. Luck won't change things, hard work and dedication will. If Ovie applies himself, things will turn around. If not, if his mindset is to approach hockey as just a job when he'd rather be doing other things, what a shame. What a waste of talent.
The Caps play Ottawa next. Last December the Caps defeated the Sens to end their 8-game losing streak. Right now that's my only cause for hope, that a win Saturday will turn the tide and get Ovie and the Caps going in the right direction.
she's so cute!
@BobbyG,
I view his comments after the game as his determination not to air things to the media. If he doesn't think it's their business, then he won't share his thoughts. He's is less open to the media than he used to be. Makes an uniteresting post-game interview.
This one's a keeper! Congratulations, Ovie!!!! She's so sweet and genuine, not over-the-top, high maintenance girl he once use to date aka, the gold diggers! I hope it works out for them!!!! :)
