“He’s amazing. There aren’t enough words in English or Russian to describe him.”
~Chris Drury
"He's like the shark in Jaws, circling in the water waiting for blood. They should play that music from the movie – da-duh, da-duh, da-duh - when he's out on a shift. He doesn't just go after loose pucks, he hunts them down."
~John Davidson, President of Hockey Operations for the St. Louis Blues.
Keep the faith, TJ, and keep up the good work.
Thank you, Alex Ovetjkin, for killing this ridiculous storyline with this post.
~Mike Prada, Sr. Editor, SB Nation

Just wanted to thank you for posting my book on your blog, which I consulted a fair bit while researching and writing the book. In particular, the comprehensive list of links on alexovetjkin.blogspot.com is the best library on Ovechkin material available anywhere.

Yes Ovie is saying all the right PC things. But the real underlying question is, does he finally understand what adjustments he has to make for him and his team to be successful? He says he hasn't changed his game, but if you look at the past 2 games in particular, it looks like he's taking more defensive responsiblity by backchecking and blocking shots. Maybe Bruce Boudreau tried and failed and it took Dale Hunter for Ovie to realize this. As I've said before, some lessons are harder to learn than others. Those lessons also take longer to sink in. If Ovie can build on his "wake-up call" as he called it in this interview, the payoff for him and the Caps would be huge.
To clarify previous posting about PA reporter and to @TJ and BobbyJ previous comments,
I thought I missed this posting here but you provided old AO postings. There was new significant developments to that Ovi's "non-story" and it looks like not covered at-all, because that Pitt. reporter published now sort of extensive apology and correction in the same publication http://www.observer-reporter.com/or/sports11/12-10-2011-steigerwald-column
It seems some litigation problems have forced this 'reporter' and edition to publish it.
@yv: How is that an apology? We don't care why he wrote that, why he thinks most American athletes are on roids and why he thinks the testing should be better.
He only apologized for linking Ovi with the Canadian doctor, but he still uses the chiropractor even though there is not proof that he treated Ovi or actually gave roids to any capitals player. And there is not apology for what he said about Ovi's mother so he can go to hell for all I care.
He is only justifying himself for writing a story with not facts.
yv,
The "PA reporter" has connections to the Penguins organization. Nuff said.
He is also known as a hack. Anything he says is crap. He isn't respected and posting his "articles" only encourage him because he gets page hits.
As for the coaching changes, I really like what I have seen from Hunter and Johnson during practices.
@O: What specifically do you like from Hunter and Johnson at practices compared to Boudreau and Woods? How do you think this will translate to success in games?
