It's us against the world...
Elliotte Friedman is extremely good journalist. Love his "30 thoughts" and always looking forward to read it.
Here are excerpts from his new 30 thoughts just released::
13. Wrote last week that I understood Alexander Ovechkin's decision to skip All-Star weekend because of his suspension. Learned very quickly I'm in the minority on this one, from Andy McDonald calling him "classless" to a couple of team executives saying they would've advised Ovechkin to go there, not play, but smile and sign autographs. That would've scored major points.
14. That said, the sense is the Capitals are strongly behind him...
Wait, how many of you consider Andy McDonald a majority? Who knows this guy? Raise your hand if you can recognize him during St. Louis game without a help of a TV commentator!
Couple of team executives? hahaha... Take out Pens, and you have one random xenophobe.
What about a quote from Stanley Cup MVP from Pittsburgh, a.k.a. Evgeny Malkin? (I don't blame him, not at all. He made his decision) What about Brendan Shanahan himself? ("I think I respect it," he said on Saturday in Ottawa) What about Datsyuk? (Judge not, that ye be not judged)
But the main thing is, Ovi wouldn't do if he didn't feel a strong support from Ted Leonsis (I do not agree in any way with the suspension of Alex Ovechkin for 3 games), from GM George McPhee (Yes, I support him in that) and most important, from Caps fans (78% of Caps fans felt that Alex Ovechkin should not go to All-Star event).
It's us against the world...
14. That said, the sense is the Capitals are strongly behind him and realize (as does Ovechkin) that from now on, he will be judged solely on playoff performance. So, if a couple of days wearing SPF 30 in Florida means April, May and June success, they'll live with the fallout.
P.S. I am asking Ovi's fans to retweet @KevGull's tweet. Talking about "Taste of your own medicine."

Bet Tim Thomas missed Ovie; would take some of the media hype away from him about the White House, which should be over by now....
Let it rest. No reason to gang up on a player for his tweet that wasn't the worst said. Many people and media trashed Ovi's decision.
The players interviewed at the Game were in full bland PC answer mode.
