“It was a hit,” Ovechkin said. “I don’t want to comment my hit and I don’t want to comment on something [until] after the call [from Shanahan].”
According to Sportsnet’s Nick Kypreos, Ovechkin’s hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

Ovechkin has been suspended twice in his career, but neither has been in the past 18 months, so he will not be considered a repeat offender under the NHL’s rules. Both suspensions came in the 2009-10 season.
