It's hard to explain why he is in decline; the true reasons are known only to Alexander himself. Fortunately he is gradually improving his game lately, he's gaining his top form. It is evident that it is not an easy process for him, but he is a master, a star. Let's see what will happen.

In general, Ovechkin has no right to drop below a certain level. Especially with such high expectations associated with him. However, this is a concerns to all of our [Russian] NHL stars.

Here are the results of "the most overrated NHL player" by Sports Illustrated. 161 NHL players chose Ovechkin as 2nd most overrated player in the league. The same NHLers who selected Ovechkin as the most valuable player in the league 3 times.

The task was simple -- choose the most deserving five goaltenders, 10 defensemen, 21 forwards and 12 rookies to join the six players selected in fan balloting: Boston goalie Tim Thomas, Toronto defenseman Dion Phaneuf and the Ottawa contingent of defenseman Erik Karlsson and forwards Daniel Alfredsson, Jason Spezza and Milan Michalek.

Among the surprises who received zero votes included Alex Ovechkin, Chicago's Patrick Kane and 2010-11 MVP Corey Perry.

It is insulting to me, it is annoying to me, but it is okay... Hopefully all this will motivate Ovi and hey, who will remember that if Caps and Ovi will go deep, I mean very deep :-), in playoffs?
