Where Ovechkin was planning his All-Star break
As Ovi said himself, he had some vacation plans in case he was not selected for All-Star event. And where it could be? Probably from a place that far, far away from Florida. Here is my guess...

"Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova also advanced after Maria Kirilenko retired injured at 6-0 1-0 down."
His girlfriend is in Australia now and will celebrate her 25th birthday this Wednesday. [Write your birthday wishes to Maria]. Her next tournament is in Thailand in about two weeks:
The US$220,000 PTT Pattaya Open, one of the longest running events on the WTA Tour for professional women tennis players has assembled a star-studded field for its 21st edition which includes a mixture of established and rising stars who will competing for the US$30,000 winner’s cheque and 280 ranking points in the ever popular tournament which will be held at the Dusit Thani Hotel, Pattaya, Thailand from 5 – 12 February 2012.
Russian beauty Maria Kirilenko, another player who has enjoyed success in 2011 and is currently ranked in the top 30 will be returning in 2012 and hoping to improve on her showing last year.
December 31st, 2011, Maria:
My dears,
Happy New Year to all!!! I wish you all of you happiness, health, love!!! Let all your wishes be fulfilled, let the old year take all the bad things with it, and let the new one to bring us only goodness and love! After all, happiness is when you love and be loved!
Maria
Awww...

So if Ovi wouldn't be in All-Star event and got suspended today, he would be buying a ticket to get to Australia by Wednesday. :-)

Stupid if Ovi planned to go to Australia. It is a really long flight (25-35 hours). He'd get there and only have 1-2 days before he flys back to DC. Jetlag and no rest. Selfish to do a trip that long.
A trip to beach with teammates is better.
^^^ Agreed. Now with his 3 game suspension, Ovie should be around when the Caps play the Bruins tomorrow night without him, Nicky, and Mikey in the lineup. Even if he can't play, as Caps Captain he should be there to encourage and support his teammates to play inspired for this difficult contest. Ditto for the next 2 crucial contests against SE division rivals the Lightning and Panthers plus team practices.
I suggest Ovie make time to go out after games and off days with his friends on the team, perhaps the entire team, to maintain a connection and bond more for the tough rest of the season. Really, how would it look to his teammates if Ovie took off and left them to face adversity alone? IMO it would come across as very selfish to put his own agenda ahead of the team's needs.
Ovi's first game after suspension is on Feb. 4. It's 2 weeks from now.
I still say Ovie should be with the team, in the locker room or up in a box or suite, for all 3 suspended games--tomorrow vs. Bruins, Jan 31 vs. Lightning, and Feb 1 vs. Panthers. All 3 games will be difficult with him, Backstrom, and Green out. He's the Captain, and sometimes you don't get to do what you want, you do what's necessary.
TJ,
He has no two weeks. He can only vacation for the ASG. Even suspended players have to report to team practices and meetings or be AWOL. He has to be at Kettler with the rest of the team Jan 30.
