Ovechkin might not come back even after a year.

Alexander Ovechkin confessed that he did not enjoy reading that he was not needed to Moscow Dynamo, but said he was not offended and glad to play hockey for the home club. Here what the said to the Information Agency "R-sport":

"It's not that I was hurt, but it was unpleasant to hear. Every situation is changing for the better or worse, someone could say something, someone would not translate well, so I never take offense at such things. I'm not one of the people who might be offended. I will not hide, I did not like it when I read that the team didn't need me. But now it is in the past, I am in Dynamo."

Ovechkin admitted that he has not yet decided what to do in the case of NHL lockout cancellation.
"It all depends on what the conditions will be in the NHL. If they cut the contract, I got to think should I return or not.
Also, Ovechkin said that "it is possible" that he will play in the KHL after this season.
"We'll see, everything will be seen later."

Wow, did he wake up on a wrong side of the bed? Did Maria told him to sleep on a couch? Alright, man, just watch crude oil prices though. If they will go down, so will the KHL. Good luck.

I don't like that. For God's sake, he has enough money to live in peace.

I don't buy it. He can't suddenly lose his drive to win the Stanley Cup.
I understand that there is not point in leaving if he gets the same or less money in the NHL, but if he stills want to win the cup he will stay in the NHL.

From NBC:
"Perhaps the KHL could argue Ovechkin’s NHL contract was violated if the new CBA results in rollbacks or other lost salary. However, not only would that be a tough case to make, it would be fraught with potential consequences, such as the NHL barring its players from the 2014 Sochi Olympics in Russia."

I forgot about his contract and Soshi. What are the possible case scenarios if he leaves or stays?

If he stays without wining that case would that be a problem with the IIHF?

Sorry about the last question.

What I tried to say was if he stays because he couldn't win the case and refuses to play for the NHL, would that be a problem with the IIHF?

Both leagues are suppose to respect each others contracts so I guess there could be a international legal problem for Ovi.

I don't think he can just walk freely to Sochi and the world championships just like that, can he?

I actually think it has more to do with loyalty. There is a reason he went back to dynamo even after all that crap they spewed the other week.

A paycut would occur like the Caps breaking a promise. It's the principle, not the money.

Yes, we can sit here and say he has made more then enough money but from his point of view and I agree with him it's about principle. He signed a contract, he agreed to play for X amount of years for X amount of dollars. It was agreed by both sides, shook upon, signed. How can any employer try to then reduce the terms of that contract, it shows that you are no longer trustworthy. It's wrong of the owners to ask the players to receive any form of salary cuts on ALREADY signed contracts. Why would he want to stay in a league that lied to him, that can just essentially do what they want, promise you one thing then years later go back on their word. If they cut already signed current contracts in the next CBA, then Ovie and any other player has the right to view that contract as null and void and leave if they want.
