What GMGM thinks about Ovechkin's engagement and his weight?

Here we go, thanks to great Dan Steinberg:

GM George McPhee was on ESPN 980′s The Sports Fix this week, and Thom Loverro asked the GM how No. 8 looks physically.

“He looks really good to me,” McPhee said. “He’s probably 230, which is usually where we like him, and he’s been playing [overseas].”

Then Loverro asked about No. 8′s mental state.

“I think there’s a maturity about Alex that we haven’t seen before,” McPhee said. “And it may be he’s 27 now, but he’s also engaged. And he’s not going to be living the way he used to live. And that’s ok with us.”

How accurate was GMGM assessment of Ovi's weight? Here's our post on that:

Ovechkin's weight, according to KHL.RU (2012/13), is 218 lbs (99 kg). That is significant weight loss, 12 lbs! His height is 189 cm or 6'2.4". Last season official Capitals media guide had him at 6'3" and at 230 lbs.

GMGM was wrong by 12 lbs, but it's a good wrong, not the other way. :-)

I can't wait for official 2013 Washington Capitals media guide though, this is where we get our moment of truth.
