Can Ovi hit in augmented reality? Probably not, but if they could put a guy nearby, about 6'3", 235 lbs, who could hit you once you get into augmented reality...
Oh, well... :-)
Washington Business Journal, Apr. 8, 2013:
The Ballston Business Improvement District plans to erect statues honoring some of D.C.'s brightest sports sensations, including the Washington Capitals' Alex Ovechkin and Washington Wizards' John Wall, but with a technological tweak that will keep the figures from attracting bird droppings or graffiti.
The trick: The statues won't physically exist. Instead, digital figures will be created virtually through "augmented reality" markers that visitors can access with a smartphone app that makes the stars appear to be there, and they can be photographed as though they were.
The BID plans to unveil the technology at the Taste of Arlington on May 19.
