Boy, every day we learn how much Ovi hated to play Dale Hunter's system. His reaction to last year playoff series vs. Rangers, "System wise? [grin] I don't think so... We gonna play Adam's system, probably I'm gonna have more ice time than that different [Dale Hunter] system." :)
In the last game Ovi had zero points. Coincidentally his fiancee just flew to DC from Russia. Let's see how her presence will affect Ovi's performance (wink, wink)... :)

The head Coach of "Tractor" Ravil Gusmanov said the meteorites shower, that happen in Chelyabinsk this morning, did not stop the team's morning skate. According to him (via RIA Novosti) the meteorite fell near the ice arena shortly before training.
"The meteorite fell shortly before Tractor's morning skate," said Gusmanov. "I was at home, just about to leave for morning skate with the team. It was not like an earthquake, there was a strong bang and a bright flash in the sky. Thank God, there's no damage in my house, the windows are intact, everything is all right. As for our ice arena, everything seems to be ok too. At least we had a our training session and now ready for the road trip."
As for Caps prospect Evgeny Kuznetsov? No news are the good news, right? "I wish I would leave to play for the Washington Capitals," said Evgeny. Nah, just kidding, he didn't say that. :)

"At first we laughed, but in reality the situation was very serious, because it was pretty decent explosion. As for me, I was at home, it was around 9:20 local time. I did not see the flash itself, but the sound was such that I thought that's it, the war started. I looked out of the window to see what was happening, and there a huge band of smoke. I thought maybe the plane exploded. A lot of windows were broken at many homes, at the ice arena, the gates through which Zamboni gets on ice were thrown up. it was all for real. This is the number one news in the world now.

The sound of explosion and the sonic boom from the blast came 3-4 minutes after the blast. And the guys in the team who drove children to kindergarten, took them back home. The children were very scared. Imagine that, blown up windows and the flying glass. For little kids it was very scary. The most important thing right now it to take care of kids now."

In the third I feel like I have really good chances to score. Sometimes I have to be more concentrate on the puck... A couple times the rebound right there and my stick was high.

Q: Why Ovechkin can't find his game?
Malkin: Видно, как он рвался в бой в этом матче, как он здорово играл. В одном эпизоде Вокоун здорово сыграл ловушкой, когда Овечкин выдержал паузу и бросил. Может, Саша чересчур сильно хочет забить, и надо просто успокоиться и сыграть где-то похладнокровнее. Бывает, что заводишься, когда долго не забиваешь. И иногда чересчур сильно стараешься, и это ни к чему хорошему не приводит.
Translation: It was evident how much he was eager to score in this game, he played great. In one episode Ovechkin paused and shot, but Vokoun had a great glove on him. Maybe Sasha wants to score too much, and you just have to calm down and play somewhat relaxed. When you can't score for a long time it happens. And when you sometimes try too hard it becomes a bad thing.

Caps finally win 3-2, beating Flyers, this time the luck was on Caps side. But what is the most important, two key players, Nicklas Backstrom and Alex Ovechkin were back. Good news for the team and for the Caps fans. Nicklas had goal, assist and was +2. As for Alex, he didn't score, but he was back in his game, looked like the old Great Eight, maybe not totally, but very close. And the stats don't lie, 7 shots on goal, 4 shot attempts were blocked, 1 shot missed, 1 hit, 2 takeaways, 1 blocked shot. These numbers look like the old Alexander the Great. One of Ovi's one timers was so hard, that it made Bryzgalov lay in pain on ice for a couple of minutes, and after that he let in a questionable goal from Brouwer.
Whew, finally! And it couldn't be a better time, Penguins are coming to town on the Super Bowl Day.

Let's refresh our memory about Ovechkin's multi-year, multi-million contract. He is making $9 mil per season through 2013/14 season. After that starting in 2014/15 season through 2020/21, Ovechkin will be paid $10 million per season.
In an interview to Sobesednik.ru, Sept. 28, 2011, Ovechkin said that Capitals could trade him, but in the next three years it could only happen with his permission. Since he said it in the fall of 2011, I assume the next three years would be 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2013/2014.
According to TSN.CA article (01/12/2008), after July 1, 2014 Ovechkin can be traded to any team that is not in the list of 10. This list of 10 teams must be submitted by Ovechkin in June of 2014. The list can be updated by Ovechkin each year from July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2021.
Will Ovechkin be traded? Even if he'd play like he is now, it is highly unlikely, to my opinion. But weirder things happen, you never know.
